Si vous avez une petite idée de ce qu’est le net.art, que votre curiosité vous mène sur des pages aussi étranges qu’ inattendues, alors vous avez sans doute déjà passé votre curseur sur l’un de ces blogs d’art collaboratif, plus connus sous l’appellation Surfing Clubs.

Définir ce genre de site reviendrait à stériliser les évolutions prometteuses de ce phénomène qui est, précisons-le, récent de quelques années seulement. Je vais cependant me risquer à dresser une liste de tags concernant les Surfing Clubs – c’est bien plus branché qu’une définition classique, raisonnablement plus évolutif et tellement mieux adapté au sujet.

Surfing Clubs : surf, art, blog, net.art, expérimental, groupe, navigation, conversation, avatar, processus, innovation …

En définitive, les Surfing Clubs sont une version moderne des collectifs d’artistes. Les échanges et les influences sont au rendez-vous, même si les contributeurs ne se connaissent pas forcément. Ne négligeons pas l’hétérogénéité des origines de ces auteurs. Le réseau permet en effet de faire intervenir au sein d’un même blog des personnalités différents avec comme point commun la culture du net. Il n’est pas non plus rare de découvrir parmi les auteurs, des avatars plus ou moins mystérieux que l’on retrouve d’un club à l’autre.

Héritiers de Myspace, 4chan et d’échanges épistolaires électroniques privés, les Surfing Clubs ont de beaux jours devant eux étant donné leurs impacts sur la création spontanée en ligne, et leur influences sur la culture Internet elle même.     Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.
